Finished the Big Yellow Socks

I have been knitting military socks for Socks for Soldiers yahoo group. I got in on a really good sale at Herrschners.com a while back and got weird colored sock yarn -- lots of sock yarn -- 70 skeins of sock yarn....but it was a really good price. I'm going to be knitting socks for a very long time. Anyway, here's a picture of the socks before I send them to Pam to be dyed black so a soldier can wear them. I also threw in a picture of grandson Jacob and his dog Eddy. Eddy has been trying to get rid of Jake since he was born - sibling rivalry, but... now that the kid can play with him he's mellowing a bit.

the joy of blogging

After two days of trying to get back into the blog to post a picture of the finished wall hanging and the actual quilt I was trying to post, I finally was able to sign in. I don't know how but we'll go with it! Anyway here's the quilt pics I was trying to post.
The snow pile in the back yard is finally melting. Its raining and foggy so it will probably be gone today. I am so ready for spring. David and I walked downtown yesterday and it felt so good just to get out and move around. Today, I think our big adventure will be to get the car washed, get all of the salt and winter crud removed.

The beginning

This is my first attempt at blogging. I like showing off my handy work and this seems like the easiest venue for people to see my works of art. I do some knitting, mostly socks and shawls with an occasional sweater thrown in for good measure. The shawl is a pi type from goddess knits through bopeeps woolshop in Iowa. The socks are modeled by my eldest daughter Lisa and they have beads knit into the cuff.

I also sew quilts mostly new grandbaby quilts. My husband and I have 7 grandbaby ranging in age from Ciara age 13, Jaden 6, John 5 and Elizabeth 5, Callen 4, Jacob 1, and finally Julia 6 months. No new babies are expected in the near future so I am making a quilt with teapots on it. Six of us are making the same quilt so we get together each month and the local quilt shop, wear silly hats and have a tea party and work on our quilts. Here's a couple of my older quilts
